Episode 8
Helena and Dylan are at Helena’s house. Jenny has arrived
to film their contribution to Bette and Tina tribute video that Jenny is making
for the couple who are leaving for New York. Tina has been offered a job there.
Dylan is upset. Helena: Jenny’s here, so……maybe we should continue this conversation
later Dylan: We don’t have to continue at all Helena: Don’t be ridiculous. Dylan: I was just upset, ok? I didn’t expect to be kicked out of my
sublet. Helena: And I just felt that you were expecting me to invite you to move
in here with me Dylan: I wasn’t angling for an invitation to move in with you. Nothing
could have been further from my mind Helena: Well, in that case, I’m sorry Dylan: You know something? I would have said no if you had offered. But
it would have been nice. They go downstairs to the kitchen to join Jenny who has already set up her
video equipment. Dylan (to Jenny): So…what are you shooting? Jenny: I’m shooting a tribute video to Bette and Tina, you know, I’m
gonna do it for their goodbye party which is very exciting Helena: Do I have to be on camera because, you know, I really hate that Jenny: Well, I think it’s a good idea. I mean I would like to get
everyone on camera. It would be great if you would do something as well Dylan: Sure Jenny: Great Helena: Do you want a drink, Jenny? Jenny: Um…No I don’t think so. I think it’s a little early for me, thank
you. Helena: It’s never too late for a drink. Dylan: I’ll have one Jenny: So….tons of people have sent me tapes Dylan: Great Jenny: …..who don’t even live in LA for the tribute video. Helena hands Dylan her drink. Dylan and Helena pose a little stiffly for the
shot so Jenny asks them to stand closer. Jenny: Ok. We should just start, right. Alright, if you guys can just
stand close together, and perhaps you can make a toast to Tina and Bette. Helena: ….to Tina and Bette Later, we see Dylan on the phone to a friend. She sees Helena and promptly
ends the call. Dylan (to her friend): yeah… I don’t know when…ok? Yeah…..listen…..I
gotta go…ok..bye. Helena approaches her with a smile on her face. Dylan: Uh…God…I don’t really feel like going to the movies
tonight, do you? Helena: Who were you talking to just now? Dylan: Nobody. Just a friend. Helena: A friend called Nobody…what? Dylan: Is this going to end anytime soon or am I going to be under
suspicion for as long as we are together? Dylan walks off in a huff. She picks up her car keys to leave. Helena runs
after her to apologise. Helena: Dylan……Dylan…..don’t just….please…listen… Helena grabs hold of Dylan’s hand halfway down the stairs and pulls her back.
They stop. Helena: Look……I’m sorry, ok? I’ll try to stop. Dylan: That would be nice. Helena: Trust is hard for me. Always has been. Dylan: Trust me? They proceed to make out on the stairs gradually moving in the kitchen.
Dylan lifts up Helena asking her if she trusts her. Helena says she does. Dylan
gently drops her on the kitchen top. They are next to a set of knives. Dylan
takes out one of the knives from its holder to cut of the strap of Helena’s top,
making Helena jump with fright. Dylan proceeds to shower Helena with kisses.
Dylan goes to the studio Jenny bought for Shane to see Jenny,
probably to help her with editing the tribute video. Alice had rung Helena to
let her know about this rendezvous. Helena is suspicious of course. Dylan begs
Jenny not to tell Helena that she (Dylan) knew about the test with Nikki. Jenny
refuses and they bicker. Dylan: I need her not to know and I just want you to promise me that
you’re not going to tell her. Jenny: No. You lied to me. Now you’re asking me to lie to cover your lie. Dylan: I didn’t lie. I confided in you. Jenny: No. You lied to me. You really did. And after that you promised
that you’ll come clean to her and you haven’t done that. Dylan: Because I know that she won’t be able to let it go. Jenny, she has
a huge problem with trust. Jenny: Obviously she does. Are you surprised about that? Look, you had
every reason to be suspicious when Nikki’s manager called. Dylan: Yeah. It was suspicious. I was suspicious because I recognised
your voice. Because you did such a bad job impersonating her. Shall I tell her
that? Jenny: Just tell her the truth. It’s better that way and then
you’re all even. Dylan: She’s not going to think that we’re even, ok? When she
finds out that I knew before I went into HIT that Nikki Stevens was a set up,
she’s going to think I’m a …….
Before Dylan can finish her sentence Helena speaks. She arrives and has been
listening to their conversation. Helena: You’re a liar. Jenny: Oh no….. Helena: and you’re a con artist and that none of this bodes well for a
relationship that should be based on trust. Jenny: Helena, wait. Before you get really upset, now that everything is
out in the open, maybe you can……. Helena: So you knew, all along, that Nikki Stevens wasn’t
interested in you directing her movie? Jenny: That was such a bad idea. This is so unethical and I never should
have been involved in any of this Helena:
Dylan: No, that was not just an act.
Helena: And when she (pointing to Jenny) spilled the beans at Max's baby shower, she wasn't really spilling anything?! Jesus, Dylan, that was such a good performance. You've been on the wrong side of the camera.
Helena turns around and stomps off.
Jenny: Wait, Helena. That is not her fault. That’s my fault.
Helena: F**k you, Schector. You have interfered in my life enough now.
Dylan follows Helena outside.
Dylan: You created the situation, not me.
Helena: I’m not putting it all on you, Dylan. We created this together, well now I’m uncreating it, ok?
Dylan: No, listen to me. It’s totally unfair. I had no choice.
Helena: Oh yeah? How do you work that out?
Dylan: Because I wanted to be with you and you didn’t trust me. Then I had to pass your test. I swear to you, I would have done the exact same thing with Nikki Stevens even if Jenny hadn’t told me.
Helena: I’m never gonna know that for sure, Dylan. How can I know that?
Dylan: cos you can trust me.
Helena: Dylan, I can’t…. no…thanks to her, thanks to Jenny f**king Shector, I can’t trust you.
With that, Helena walks out of Dylan’s life.
